Cursillo is a ministry of the church. Its purpose is to help those in the church understand their individual callings to be Christian Leaders. The leadership may be exercised in work situations, in the family and social life, in leisure activities, and within the Church environment. Leadership, in Cursillo, does not mean power over others, but an influence on others; all of us need to be aware that we can exert a positive influence on those around us.
The goal of Cursillo is the goal of the Church: to bring all to Christ. This is done when informed, trained leaders set out with the support of others having a similar commitment.
It helps to renew and deepen Christian commitment. Cursillo is one of many renewal ministries. Many people have said that Cursillo provides an important learning experience that causes many to feel like newly made Christians with a purpose and support.
Being a Rector for an Episcopal Men’s Cursillo Weekend is an honor a privilege and a blessing from our Almighty God; so I do not need to mention how elated I am having been selected as the Rector for Episcopal Men’s Cursillo #97 which starts on July 17, 2025, and concluding July 20, 2025. “Many are called but few are chosen” Matthew 22:14. This does not mean only to participate but to be a leader to help spread the Good News through this ministry.
This weekend’s theme is taken from Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me …” We who attended a Cursillo weekend have been witnesses to the mountain top experience. As such we continue to work towards bringing friends to Christ.
My name is Rudolph Griffith I am a parishioner at The Church of the Ascension in Miami Florida and was privilege in attending Episcopal Men’s Cursillo # 82 where I sat at the Table of St. Matthew. I am aware of the responsibilities assigned to me during my weekend and my commitment to ardently strive to see this to the end. I therefore urge you to join with me in this religious venture already undertaken by so many. Your help is for your encouragement of others to become pilgrims for this EMC #97 weekend. Please contact your priest or Cursillo representative for guidance in helping to build the pilgrim’s pool.
Our efforts are to complete a successful weekend. The import of the number of pilgrims that have seen the weekend through is secondary to having more pilgrims who would continue the ministry. You have already lit your lamp, now you need to put it on the top of the mountain so all can understand something clearly at last.
